Gunk in our Gulf – Nov 2018 Forum

November 25, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

FREE

Gunk in our Gulf and what we can do about it…

it’s a MISSION POSSIBLE!

Friends of Gulf St Vincent are proud to host this year’s Free Community Forum

Sunday 25 November 2018

Henley Sailing Club

Cnr Seaview Rd and Burbridge Rd, West Beach

2pm – 5pm

Featuring Sydney’s Sarah-Jo Lobwein – inspiring

Marine Science and Conservation Speaker

Lots of “stuff” ends up on beaches. Some of it is natural – the things that we delight in finding washed up on the shore.
The rest is likely to be accidental or deliberate trash and pollution – or maybe the result of it.
Can you tell the difference?
Our Forum assembles local and national authorities on trash and its impacts in the marine environment.
If you are concerned about worrying marine realities – think Pacific garbage patch, ghost nets, balloon jellyfish – then come along and hear more about what is happening here, interstate and overseas.

Guest speakers

John Phillips OAM (ED KESAB) “The Challenges of Plastic Pollution – Local and Global: A KESAB environmental solutions perspective”

Dr Kristian Peters (NRM) “Plastic plight on our shores: An insight into marine debris in the Gulf St Vincent bioregion, South Australia”

Dr Ryan Baring (Flinders Uni) “All we need is some love for beach wrack”

Dr Sue Gibbs (SA Museum) “What are dolphins eating?”

Sarah-Jo Lobwein (Tangaroa Blue) “Sea change: empowering the community”
